March set a new benchmark for premium luggage brand Carl Friedrik, with their own rendition of an aluminium luggage range.
It was inevitable that we would see Carl Friedrik step into the challenge of other premium hard case brands, with their own version of aluminium cases. But does their new aluminium range stand the test of the market?

The structure
Carl Friedriks new Aluminium cases are forged from a specially developed aluminium alloy, which they claim to deliver exceptional strength and durability while being used.
For the initial drop, we’re getting our hands on three leather finishes: Black, chocolate and their prized cognac colour.

TSA-approved combination locks come as standard, as you would expect.
The glorious ball bearing wheels made in collaboration with Hinamoto, giving you that sterling wheel movement we love about the Carl Friedrik cases.
They’ve added to their aluminium range, steel-reinforced corners, which enhances the durability and impact resistance of their cases. A promising feature added to prevent the cases crumbling under the relentless fury and pressures, of airport luggage handlers our cases have come across so many times. Will this stop you seeing future dents in your new aluminium case, it’s highly unlikely. Will it definitely do a good job of preventing extensive damage, we would hope.
The Interior
Nothing changes much on the inside interior, which isn’t a bad thing. If it’s not broken, why try and fix it. You still get the same zipped compartment to protect smaller items from tumbling around in transit. On the other side of the inner casing, comes the standard lining made from 100% recycled polyester. This is then complimented with compression pad straps, for you to optimise packing efficiency.

Having used their previous check-in range it’s been a pleasing experience with the interior, doing the main job well, of holding everything together inside.
Price
Carl Friedriks aluminium case price will start from £645, for their Carry-on cases. Which is a good £300 jump upwards, from their original core carry-on collection.
