Burger and Lobster Soho

There has been much hype about Burger & Lobster since it originally opened its door in London.  For those that don’t know about the joint it surprisingly serves BURGERS, and LOBSTERS.  That’s it!  There is no food menu, as the choices are very simple.  You pick one or the other and they both cost £20.  A nice idea, and for those that like to have a menu you are given a full drinks one with an extensive list of cocktails, beers and wines. But what is the food like?

Just before the food arrives, you are given a lobster bid to help keep all those juice off your best threads. Thankfully we don’t eat like pigs so we didn’t eat it.  We ordered one burger and one lobster so to taste the best of both meat and sea worlds. Both came with McDonaldesk french fries and a good bowl of fresh salad.

Whilst the burger looked impressive, and it was tasty it really wasn’t anything special.  With the likes of very decent Gourmet Burger on almost every high street, any new burger restaurant in town has to come up with something not just good but great.  So whilst I went into Burger & Lobster expecting an amazing burger I was left a little disappointed. The burger was well cooked, and layered with lots of fresh veg, but it did not blow my meat socks off.

The lobster was much better however, and although a little small for my liking it was very tasty!  If only they could produce a whole lobster that tasted like the meat in the claw. Why? Well it’s always the meat in the claw that is the most tasty in my opinion.

So there you have it, Burger or Lobster, you decide.  There are now 4 locations to choose from in London, so the franchise is doing well but for a return visit I would really be looking for more.
